Mini Break

I'm taking a mini-break while I enjoy having my family in town! We're exploring things in and around town, relaxing, and savoring delicious food (of course!)

Plate Wall Project

This project of mine has been in the works for years! My sisters-in-law can attest to this! Back in 2009, during our trip to San Francisco, I was looking for plate number 2 or 3. I can't remember, it's been so long! And they've been hearing about it ever since! I actually think that they've found a couple of them for me along the way. . .

Needless to say, I've had this vision of what I wanted and it has finally come into fruition. I'm in LOVE!

I may add a couple more over time, but for now I'm pretty happy with the results!

I found plates all over:

Amazon

Plate hanging hooks are from JoAnns!

*Notice the elk plate - that was me attempting to incorporate Steven's style into our collection! He loves it and I actually do too!*

Bear's Weekend

Super lame post for those of you who are not fans of animals, but I am, and I happen to love my dog! I think you have to have one in order to understand. . .

This sweet pup of mine turned 4!!! The reason why I post this is because when the time comes, I can't even imagine my own flesh and blood of a child turning 4. The time has gone by so fast, I can't even begin to imagine what it will be like when our own kiddos come along and grow from year to year!

Maybe in some ways I can wait for them to get here, so that I don't have to worry about them getting too big on me! While most of my friends are at the tail end of having kids, I still have babies to look forward to and that makes me smile!

Bear's weekend consisted of a nice walk on Saturday (which we rarely give her - so bad I know), me constantly reminding her that it was her 4th birthday (like she even knows what I'm talking about), and an afternoon playing with her super cute cousin; Pepper!

Bear might seriously be one of the World's Best Dogs!
We love you Cherro Perro!

Gotta Love Talent!

I love the original. . .you can hear it on my playlist below. This cover, however, Ah-MAZING!

Enjoy!

Did I Mention That I'm Going to Be an Aunt?

My brother, Marc, and his wife, Kristen, will be having a baby GIRL at the beginning of April! This will be the first niece or nephew on both my side and Steven's side, and I'm kind of excited that this one is going to be on my side :). Yay for sharing the same DNA! So happy that it's going to be a girl! My Holden family needs more girls as I am the only one of four children. Can't wait to meet her, love her, snuggle her, and shop for her!

*A very special thanks to my sister-in-law, Kristen, for being such a trooper and enduring these past 8 months!*

Griffith Park Observatory

Saturday afternoon we spent some time at Griffith Park Observatory. It was fun, free, and the view is breathtaking! Did I mention that the Hollywood sign is just up above and in the distance?! When you look down from the observatory you get a full view of Los Angeles and the Pacific! The park is full of trails and the observatory's structure is amazing! February and March are my favorite months in Southern California. Everything is so green!

Did you know that the park was used as a location on several films?

-The Rocketeer
-Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
-Yes Man (Upon arrival, I suddenly felt like Zooey and Jim were going to appear out of nowhere!)
-The People vs. Larry Flynt
-Valentine's Day

**just to name a few!

Paper Source

I had premeditated plans to swing by Paper Source at the Oaks Mall while in Southern California over the long weekend. I had found this cute frame online at a very good price and knew that I had to have it. Turns out, one of my Aunts and I have the same taste . . .we both left with the same frame!

I could have spent so much more time (and money!) in that store but was on a tight schedule coordinating with family plans. You can take workshops, shop, design, and craft your little heart out in that store. I really wish that we had one here in NV!

Here are a few of the items I snagged:

**There was one more thing that I am most excited about, but has to be kept a secret until after my Sister-in-law's baby shower!
